BAR 1918 - 260407-1
A very rare Model 1918 Winchester factory Browning Automatic Rifle. Beautiful walnut stock and original checkered walnut fore grip. The original Winchester barrel is dated "5-18" (May 1918) and is marked with the flaming bomb, "W" and appropriate armorers mark. The top of the receiver is also marked with the flaming bomb and armorers mark. The weapon has a few pits here and there, but nothing bad. I can't tell if someone touched up the few spots on the receiver with cold blue or if the weapon was reblued sometime in the past. If so, my guess is that it was an arsenic blue job done back in the 1920's. It matches the bluing on a Colt Thompson perfectly. There is a very fine hairline crack on the walnut butt stock as well as a few dings here and there. Overall for a weapon that is 90 years old, this one was well taken care of. A nice piece of Post WWI history. This weapon is on a form 4 in South Carolina with a very reputable person. I will put buyer and seller together.
